Port Perry is the lakeside town at the heart of Scugog, with a heritage main street on Lake Scugog and rural roads, farms and waterfront lots spreading out in every direction.

In town the lots are older and level, with municipal water and a gate you can usually get a tub through. Outside town it is a different job: long gravel driveways, sloped waterfront on Scugog Island and the west shore, hydro that comes down a long line from the road and water from a drilled well.
